Sitting In Today

Hmmm, I appear to be making a worrying habit out of this not posting thing. I should really do something to fix that.

Anyway, I figure you all want filling in on what I’ve been doing for the past couple weeks. Oh, you don’t? Oh well, I’ll tell you anyway. Because I’m nice like that.

So yes, as some of you already knew, some of you had already guessed and everyone else now knows thanks to Facebook (which we all know is law when it comes to such matters), Rachael and I are officially ‘in a relationship’. And honestly? I’ve never been happier.

Now that that is out of the way, on with more humdrum matters below the cut.

On Friday I went to see Feeder in Manchester, and had a brilliant time. Haven’t seen them since November 2006, and it was a nice small venue (made quite a change when compared to the Empress Ballroom). Managed to get quite close to the front, though in doing so ended up losing about half my body weight in sweat and all hearing in one ear. Not that I was that bothered, really.

Centre piece of the evening was them playing Yesterday Went Too Soon, which is my favourite Feeder song ever. I’ve only ever seen them play it once before, back in 2001. It’s taken 7 years and 6 gigs for them to play it again, but it was worth it. Annoyingly, however, the crummy memory card that came with my camera had ran out of its paltry (32mb) space by this point, so I couldn’t record them playing it, which was tragic (especially as I have a 4gb card in the post).

Another surprise was My Perfect Day which, while not one of my more preferred tracks on Polythene, made a nice change to the usual. They also played a fair few tracks off the new album, (which is certainly quickly growing on me) and the usual glut of singles. Naturally, the encore consisted of High and Just A Day, which gave me the usual chance to slink to the back of the venue and make an early getaway before the crowds.

Yesterday, given the lovely weather, Rachael and I took a trip to Kirkstall Abbey (in Kirkstall, oddly enough). I’ve lived in Leeds for 4 years, but I realise now that I really have seen nothing of it. The ruins and surrounding park area made the perfect antithesis to my usual haunts.

Alas, my camera battery ran out pretty early on, so only managed to take a few photos. Will have to go back again soon. It’s a shame, then, that the weather has turned today, and looks set to stay this way for a few days.

On the more academic side of things, I got a shiny 64 for my FYP, which may just be enough to get me a 2:1, but I’m still expecting a 2:2 really, especially after how badly the NLP exam went. Will find out soon enough (read: Friday). After that, it’s time to find a job and a flat. Something I really don’t want to do, but I know I don’t have a choice. Will have to face it, sooner or later.

For now, however, I’ll stick with later. And on that note, I think I’ll draw this to a close. Will blog more in the future, I promise…
