New Depths

In the wake of the Byron Review I had (naively) hoped that maybe, just maybe, the British mass media would stop being so sensationalist about the Violence in Games ‘issue’. Clearly, this was just foolish as today this was spotted by a keen eyed Kotaku reader. if you can’t be bothered to click (lazy!), this is the important part:

A national newspaper wants your story and will pay hundreds of pounds to the right person.

Write a few lines about how computer games turned you to crime and if it’s something we like, we’ll call you straight back.

It really is rather disgusting, but in all honesty I’m not overly surprised. What’s more scary is that it’s not much of a leap from this to just making up their own stories on the subject. And it’d be cheaper, too.

Anyhow, more here and here.
